36 Days of Type: A Creative and Sustainable Display

The "36 Days of Type" is an annual creative project where designers explore their artistic freedom by creating letters in any style they choose. When the time came to showcase these designs, the Regenerate team was asked to create a display that would maximise the visual impact of the letters while minimising the environmental footprint. With a tight budget and sustainability as a key focus, we embraced the challenge with our signature approach to eco-conscious design.

To bring the display to life, we crafted over 50 boxes, ranging in size from 1 metre wide down to just 10 centimetres. These boxes were stacked and arranged in an eye-catching installation, transforming the creative letter designs into a cohesive and dynamic visual experience. By using cardboard, a fully recyclable and sustainable material, we ensured that the display aligned with our commitment to minimising waste.

What made this project special was its versatility. Once the exhibition was ready to be dismantled, the boxes weren’t simply discarded. Many were strategically placed around the office as decorations, adding a creative touch to the workspace. For those boxes that weren’t needed in the office, they were cut up and repurposed as flat wall art, taken home by staff as personal keepsakes or simply recycled. This ensured that the display not only had minimal environmental impact but also had a lasting presence beyond the event itself.

The "36 Days of Type" project exemplified how creativity and sustainability can go hand in hand. Our team’s ability to turn a simple idea into a functional, reusable and eco-friendly display demonstrated once again that design can be both impactful and responsible, even when working within budget constraints.
