What happens to old promotional banners once an event is over? In partnership with McDonald’s, our Regenerate team has found an innovative way to give these materials a second life. Through our “Banners to Bags” initiative, we take old banners and flags from McDonald’s Fun Football events and transform them into practical items like pencil cases, backpacks and even bucket hats for the children who participate.
The process is more than just recycling – it’s a creative approach to upcycling that keeps materials out of landfills. Banners made from materials like PVC are notoriously difficult to recycle, and our head of sustainability, Scott Tunnicliffe, identified the need for a sustainable solution. By repurposing these promotional materials, we not only reduce waste but also provide useful, durable products for the community.
This collaboration with McDonald’s demonstrates how innovative design and sustainability can go hand in hand. It’s about more than just reusing materials – it’s about creating something new and valuable from what would otherwise be waste. By working together, we’re not only embracing a greener future but also setting an example for how businesses can make a tangible difference in sustainability and community impact.
With every pencil case, backpack and bucket hat created, we’re turning discarded promotional materials into something that children can use and enjoy. The Banners to Bags initiative is a perfect example of how we, alongside our clients, continue to embrace sustainable practices and make a lasting positive impact.
