When E.ON set out to renovate the reception, café and meeting spaces at its state-of-the-art biomass plant, it called on the combined expertise of Linney’s Regenerate, Create and Display teams. The goal was clear: to craft a space that embodied sustainability, innovation and modern design. Our Regenerate team took the lead in ensuring that the project adhered to these principles while delivering bespoke, functional elements that aligned with E.ON’s eco-conscious values.
One of the standout features of this renovation was the custom 1600mm light fixture for the café, crafted entirely from corrugated cardboard. This impressive centrepiece wasn’t just designed for aesthetic impact – it was created with sustainability at its core. The use of mono-material cardboard ensured that the light could be easily recycled when necessary, reinforcing E.ON’s commitment to reducing environmental impact. The result was a visually striking fixture that made the café space both welcoming and environmentally responsible.
The renovation extended beyond the café, transforming other key areas like the reception and meeting rooms. Working closely with the Regenerate team, Linney’s Create team incorporated sustainable materials and innovative design solutions throughout the space. Meanwhile, the Display team enhanced the visual appeal with illuminated signage and interactive content boards, drawing visitors’ attention and emphasising the modern ethos of E.ON’s facility.
Notable features included oak room dividers and custom, interchangeable content boards, each designed with sustainability and practicality in mind. Even the modernised restrooms reflected the project’s commitment to eco-friendly design, ensuring that every aspect of the space served a purpose while minimising environmental impact.
This multi-team collaboration was more than a renovation – it was a testament to Linney’s ability to merge creativity with sustainability, delivering a space that reflected E.ON’s values at its Blackburn Meadows biomass plant. The result was a functional, modern environment that tells a story of innovation and environmental responsibility.
Through projects like this, Linney continues to demonstrate how thoughtful design and sustainable practices can come together to create spaces that are both visually appealing and environmentally sound.
